Remembering Kanchan Sarkar

The morning of 28th January 2022 had been the most devastating one for me in recent times. It was indeed very difficult to grasp the enormity of the loss. The sudden departure of a personality like Kanchan creates such a vacuum in our society that is impossible to fill up. We all understand that time can heal even the greatest sorrows, but the loss suffered by the near and dear ones of the departed soul can never be forgotten. Besides, the sudden loss of a personality like Kanchan creates a major impact on our society. His indomitable spirit and energy were a major treasure for not only our beloved district Birbhum but also our state of West Bengal. In these difficult times a fearless and incorruptible journalist and an energetic social worker like Kanchan is a great asset to our country and our society engulfed by the present degenerated political culture. Singlehandedly he created a wonderful organization that has made a great impact not only on the people of Birbhum but also on the people of our state. I believe that our true love and respect for Kanchan can be best demonstrated if we all continue the activities which were so dear to him and take his creation ‘Suri Sabujer Abhijan’ and ‘Naya Prajanma’ to newer heights of excellence impacting the lives of the residents of Birbhum in particular and West Bengal in general. Kanchan will always continue to be our guiding star in the collective efforts for creating a new social order free from corruption and injustice.
